Baptizing Baby

And now why do you delay? Rise up, be baptized, and wash away your sins, by invoking his name – Acts 22:16

I took a few portraits of our darling Emmeline in her Christening gown the other day. I wanted to share them with you all as well as the story behind her attire.

I adore this gown. It will always be very special to me because it is the gown that my Rose was baptized in. I contemplated getting Emmeline her own but thought how sweet it would be for these two sisters to share. Besides, this dress is just too beautiful not to be worn more than once. They will both have it to use for their children if they wish.

Look at the beautiful tatting that I stitched to her bonnet above. This is tatting made by my great-great grandmother, who we call “Nonnie”. My grandmother, who my girls call Nonnie, gave this to me to incorporate in Emmeline’s Christening bonet or gown in some way. The antique tatting matches perfectly and looks like it had always been there.

What a sweet and wonderful keepsake for them to cherish and pass down to their children. I am thankful and honored to have it.

Her bonnet still smells of the oil she was anointed with. If you have ever smelled these Holy Oils you know how comforting of a smell it is. Her head smelled of the oil for over a week after her baptism, even after four baths.

I am so happy that I can now say my little Lilly is my sister in Christ. I have such joy in bringing my children up in the way of the Lord and I am grateful for such a responsibility.
