There is something about the New Year that rejuvenates me.  The promise of a fresh new start and not knowing where life will take me.  I love setting resolutions for myself, though they may not always be accomplished.  I think it is important to work towards new goals and aspirations.  There are no outlandish diets on my list of resolutions, no work out plans or work goals.  Though there are many things I want to do and goals I want to reach. Ultimately I want to follow His plan and path for my life.  All I can do each year is to strive to be a better person, to learn and to grow.  That being said, I do hope this year will bring about BIG change for my family and I.

Here are 5 of my goals or “resolutions” for this year:

1.  Spend more quality time with our Lord

The most important thing in my life is my relationship with Christ.  I have never been able to be consistent with my quiet time.  Which makes no sense because time with Him, is the most important.  So why can’t I find the time when He always has the time for me?  I try to keep an open dialogue with Him throughout most days and my prayer life is pretty consistent, though I find myself going through the motions from time to time like we all do.  This year I want to dive in deeper. I even want to get back to attending mass twice a week. I feel its so important to nurture our spirit so that we can thrive.

2.  Be a better Mom

I know that sounds so cliche.  What does that even mean; be a better mom?  It simply is a reminder for me to not ever get comfortable.  To always strive to find the time, find the energy, and be more for them.  They deserve so much and I just want to be the best I can for them.  Of course I will fail, I fail daily and that’s ok.  They still tell me everyday “Mommy, I love you with all my heart!” I never want to be stagnate or forget to play and nurture their imagination.  I want to cultivate a wild, free spirit in them that can not be broken.

3.  Find our forever home

We have been, in a sense, unsettled for quite some time.  Finding ourselves growing out of our little home and longing for more.  More privacy, more space, more peace and quiet.   We are so craving change and big change at that.  We are also in the time of our lives where the girls are small and haven’t yet started attending “real” school.  So our wish is to move somewhere completely new.  I’m praying for the Lord’s guidance this year and for Him to show us where that might be.

4.  Take new adventures

Spontaneity hasn’t always been my strong suit and definitely not something easy to sustain when you have kids.  I am usually pretty go with the flow, but this year I want to be more spur of the moment.  I want to get out more and do more.  I also want to take more trips throughout the year.  We all work so hard, sometimes you have to remember to get out there, live and create memories.

5.  Push myself even further outside my comfort zone

Last year I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone by the launch of this blog.  I’ve never been too into social media and in past years I could probably count on one hand how many times I posted.  I went from almost no social presence to posting daily.  I feel like it has really helped me with some personal growth.  I still have a lot to learn but am excited to push myself even further this year.  So another repeat resolution from last year: get out there and take risks.

I feel like the Lord has blessed my life tremendously and I know I say that a lot, but it’s so true!  I can’t really ask for more than I have now.  I just get so excited to see what new blessings He has in store for my life with the beginning of each new year, because it just keeps getting better and better.  Don’t get me wrong, I do fall into hard times just like everyone else.  However, I prefer to count my blessings over my misfortunes because they are so much greater.  So here’s to this New Year and all that it will bring!
